July's MONTHLY MANTRA:

"Take time to contemplate what is."

Soaking in the warm rays of the summer sun can offer us the incentive we need to set aside time to be contemplative. This summer I am taking the time to put together notes from classes I've personally taken during the past year from some of the best self-help educators and inspirational authors in the world, and their words, while illuminating, inspirational, or just plain humorous, give me a lot to ponder during my own down-time this summer. Below are some quotes I've taken during sessions with each of these spiritual teachers. Pick one that speaks to you and take the time to mull it over, examine the substance of it, and contemplate on it for awhile, observing where it takes you.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama:  "Without the attainment of calm abiding, higher perception will not occur."  (1st century A.D.)

Joan Borysenko:  "Forgiveness transforms the forgiver, not the forgiven."

Marianne Williamson:  "Crisis is your initiation into the fullness of yourself."

Deepak Chopra:   "Are we breathing, or are we being breathed?  Are we thinking, or are we being thought?"

Colette Baron-Reid:  "Forget what you know; it will limit you."

Gregg Braden:  "Reality exists only where we create a focus."  (Taken from The Heart Sutra, 1st century A.D.)

Alberto Villoldo:  "We don't live in the matrix…we are the matrix."

His Holiness the Dalai Lama:  "When and how do the continuity of existence of the personal self and the continuum of consciousness end?"

Deepak Chopra:   "We are constantly outliving the death of the physical molecules through which we express ourselves."

Michael Losier:   "We don't need to know how the reset button works, just where it's at."

Cheryl Richardson:  (Gotta LOVE this!!)  "Don't let anybody puke their stuff on your soul."

Debbie Ford:  "Knowing is the booby prize."

James Twyman:  "Don't ask God to make you into anything else."

Neale Donald Walsch:   "You are enough."

In the months ahead, you'll likely see more about some of these in this column (or in classes being offered at our store), so be sure to check back here each month for "the rest of the story."
